

A foreign teacher working at Chengdu University of Science and Technology in Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan province, saved eight quake victims three years ago, but his Chinese colleagues only recently found out about his heroics.
Yang Qingping saved his neighbor’s life when the 8.0-magnitude earthquake hit the town of 10,000, killing 74 people, on May 12, 2008.
Gao Tiancheng, head of Bailu town, led his people as the rescue work began shortly after the 2008 quake. Later, he acted as the core spirit of the reconstruction work.
Yang Wenyou, deputy headmaster at Bailu Town Primary School, lost his wife when the devastating Wenchuan earthquake hit the town in Sichuan province on May 12, 2008. But he helped saved hundreds of students, and today he is still working to help children feel safe.
