Wildlife photo exhibition opens in Sanmenxia

The first China (Sanmenxia) White Swan Wildlife International Photography Festival was opened in Sanmenxia, the "city of swans", in Henan province on Dec 7.

The six-day exhibition was co-organized by the China Photographers Association, the Henan Provincial Culture and Arts League, and the People's Government of Sanmenxia.

Some 3,000 animal-inspired images snapped by amateur and professional photographers from home and abroad were exhibited at the city's Wenbo Exhibition Center.

Local officials, members from China Photographers Association, Canada Photographer Association, along with photography experts from the US, France, Canada, and Norway attended the opening ceremony.

During the ceremony, local officials delivered speeches to express their warm welcome to all of the attendees and inform them of the city’s rich wildlife and natural scenery.

"Sanmenxia is rich in natural resources, with nearly 51 percent forest cover," said Liu Nanchang, municipal Party secretary of Sanmenxia. "We will spare no efforts to protect the environment.”

"The exhibition not only portrays the beauty of nature, but also promotes a harmonious relationship between nature and mankind," Liu added.
