Neglected worn clothes, plastic packaging, paper and other discarded items came together in outfits for a fashion show held on July 15, aimed at highlighting the importance of recycling in Sanmenxia, Henan province.

The most striking of the 26 outfits on show was a skirt made from prophylactics by Zhang Qiao'e, inspired by her experience of working with AIDS patients.

The average age of the 25 models strutting the catwalk was 60, who put on a professional performance after only two months of training.
