DuPont, the world's leading science company, announced the establishment of its branch in Chengdu, capital of Sichuan province, on Aug 16.

The Chengdu branch is the first DuPont has opened in Southwest China. It aims to better serve the market in western China.

DuPont also plans to establish an innovative technology center in West China in 2014.

DuPont signed a cooperation agreement with Sichuan University on the same day. The two parties expect to cooperate to develop more joint creative 3C (computer, communication, and consumer electronics) products.

Wang Deyi from Sichuan University was awarded the DuPont Young Professor Award at the ceremony for his prominent contributions in the research of polymer flame retardant materials. Wang is also the first Chinese to win such an award in the area of materials research.
