A competition with a cash prize totaling 230,000 yuan (about NT$1,000,000) was launched by the Taiwan Strait Tourism Association (TSTA) Beijing Office in Beijing on March 2. This was done in an effort to attract more tourists from the Chinese mainland to visit Taiwan.

The office is going to select 60 travelers in 30 groups from the mainland to visit Taiwan for a 5-day trip. Participators are required to write travel essays during their journey. Every group will receive round-trip tickets and an allowance of NT$5,600 from the Beijing office of TSTA.

Dr Yang Ruey-tzhong, head of the office, said that travelers should upload their travel pictures or videos to the TSTA Beijing Office website.

The activity is valid from March 1 to June 30 this year.

"We will introduce the wonderful scenes and various sight-seeing attractions to mainland tourists and let them experience the island thoroughly,” Yang also expressed.
