The 2012 National Youth Basketball League Women's Group A competition will be held in Guangyuan, Sichuan province, from March 1 to 7.

"This is the first national basketball tournament ever held in Guangyuan in nearly 30 years and it will draw eight excellent teams nationwide," said Han Yueming, head of the city's bureau of culture, sports, press and publication..

According to Han, who is deputy chief of the organizing committee of the competition in the Guangyaun division, 43 teams of male and female athletes from 25 provinces and municipalities will participate in the 2012 National Youth Basketball League competition.

The competition will be divided into two phases. The first phase will be held in March and the second phase from August to September.

The first-phase competition will be held in Guangyuan and Mianzhu cities of Sichuan, the Yubei district of Chongqing municipality, Jinjiang city of Fujian province, the Huangpu district of Guangzhou, Guangdong province, and Luohe city of Henan province.

The seven-day competition in the Guangyuan division will consist of the single round-robin preliminaries, semifinal and final, Han said.

The competition in Guangyaun is sponsored by the Basketball Administration Center under the State Sports General Administration, Guangyuan municipal government.

The eight teams in the competition include Guangdong, Liaoning, August 1, Heilongjiang, Beijing, Jiangsu, Shandong and Henan which were the top eight teams in last year's National Youth Basketball League.

The National Youth Basketball League is included in the annual competition program of the State Sports General Administration and is an important channel for its basketball administration center to choose professional basketball players.
