Picasso exhibition to open in Chengdu

An exhibition of Picasso's works will be held from Feb 18 to May 1, 2012 in Chengdu, the provincial capital of Sichuan. The "Picasso Exhibition, China" had its first stop in October 2011 and was on display for three months in Shanghai.

Xi Mu, chief director of the "Picasso Exhibition 2012, China" Chengdu committee said at the beginning of 2012, that it is the biggest artworks exhibition. All exhibits are the collections from the Picasso museum in France, characterizing Picasso's various artistic styles through his entire career.

With all works worth a total of 6.7 billion yuan ($1.06 billion), this exhibit is the highest in value for the exhibitions held in Chengdu since 1949. It is a big artistic event for Sichuan province.

Through the exhibition, cultural exchanges between China and the western countries will be promoted. China will also take this opportunity to think about how to improve the country's cultural environment and develop the cultural industry pattern with Chinese characteristics.
