On Dec 14, Min Yida, vice president of Dell Global and general director of Dell Greater China, came to Chengdu for the opening of a new office area at the Dell (Chengdu) Company.

In recent years, the Dell (Chengdu) Company has developed quickly. "One floor is not large enough, so we had to increase our office area". Min said that Dell will continue to expand its scale in Chengdu.

"Now, we have approximately 300 staff members. With the Dell (Chengdu) Base going into operation, office areas will be further expanded and staff numbers will increase to over 1,000."

Min reported that the Dell (Chengdu) Base is expected to be put into production by 2012.

Presently, the global PC market has been shrinking and some producers have already begun to divest their PC business sector. Min responded to this, stating “Whether Dell separates its PC sector depends on consumers. If the market has enough demand, Dell will continue to manufacture PC products.”

Besides PC products, Dell will make great efforts in the smart mobile phone market. "Although not many Dell's products were found in the market this year, we've been paying close attention to the field and will have more action with smart phones next year," said Min.
