The Wenjiang district of Chengdu, capital of Sichuan province, has made substantial achievements in forest protection.

It has devoted major efforts to the protection of forest resources this year, designating specific people to take charge of the work. Importance has been put on rare forest species, ancient trees and bamboo forests.

Not a single case of deforestation has been found on its 2,727 hectares of forest land under protection, according to the district flower and gardening bureau.
