A major economic forum will be held in Dalian, China, over four days from September 14, and about 1600 participants from 90 countries and regions will take part, organizers say.

The theme of Summer Davos 2011 is "Mastering quality growth" and stresses the need for thinking about how growth happens.

"We [are trying] to establish entrepreneurship for the new champions," said Jeremy Jurgens of the forum's Community of Global Growth Companies. The meeting offers "new champions" a way of communicating with business people from multinational corporations and government leaders, he said.

The Chinese Premier, Wen Jiabao, is to attend the opening ceremony and make a speech.
