The ceremony of educational aid given by Northwest Power Grid Company was held in Xi’an on August 18.

Northwest Power Grid Company donated 500,000 yuan to Shaanxi Charity Association in 2011, to sponsor 50 freshmen from seven counties.

The recipients submitted their letters of commitment to Shaanxi Charity Association and Northwest Power Grid Company, and got 10,000 yuan ($1,565). They promised to study hard and gave a collected report of their studies to the company. Meanwhile, the students promised to take part in at least two public welfare activities each year and finish at least 20 hours’ volunteer community service.

Shi Dahu, a sophomore from Xi’an Jiaotong University, feels grateful to Northwest Power Grid Company and Shaanxi Charity Association. As a recipient, he had tried his best to repay society. He did a lot of volunteer work in his spare time and was willing to continue.

Liu Weilong, former vice-chairman of the National People’s Congress of Shaanxi Province, called on every walk of life to support such a charitable foundation during the ceremony.

Northwest Power Grid Company has been helping poor freshmen to enter universities from 2007. It has already donated 2.1 million yuan.
