A press conference was held to mark the opening of the Shaanxi Huashan lotus fountain in Lotus Villa of Huashan on August 17.

The photo contest is based on Huayin lotus. The theme is to photograph lotus, to express the beauty and unspotted of lotus, and to highlight the enthusiasm for the production of lotus and the colorful life of Huayin people, especially immigrants.

Additionally, the contest is held to reflect the great change taken in reservoir under the help of Chinese Communist Party (CPC).

The photo contest is hosted by the leading group office of Shaanxi Reservoir Resettlement and Huayin Municipal People's Government.

It is facilitated by Yellow River Institute of Photography and Huayin Immigration. The entries must be created in Huayin in 2011.The photo must display the natural beauty and the cultural and history of Huayin.

The contest is from August 17-31. Judges will discuss the entries and determine the awards from September 1-15. The results will be announced on September 16. The contest has three levels of awards. One participant will win first prize and get 100,00 yuan. Two participants will win the second prize and get 5,000 yuan. Three participants will win the third prize and get 3,000 yuan. There will be roughly 200 photos in the contest. All the photos will get the certification given by the organizing committee, and will be exhibited in Xi’an, Weinan and Huayin.

During the 11th five-year plan, Huayin city implemented the construction of infrastructure and livelihood projects. Huayin also instructed immigrants to plant lotus. These measures had positive benefits for the environment and financially for the people.
