Volunteers bring warmth to poverty-stricken students

Students look at their photos taken by volunteers at Hanjialing Elementary School in Minhe County, northwest China's Qinghai province, January 2, 2010. Volunteers, jointly organized by The Beijing News and China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation (CFPA), provided winter clothing and established one-to-one assistance with the students during the visit. Per-capita annual income in Minhe County, one of the poorest in Qinghai, is 2,000 yuan ($292). Four teachers teach 88 students at the shabby school, with half of the classroom windows covered only by nylon film. [Photo/CFP]
