Rampant underground business in ghostwritten essays raises doubts over our academic evaluating system, says an article on qianlong.com. Excerpts:
Many university students and government employees buy fake essays to pass their academic exams or to clear their departmental tests for promotion. But are people who obtain degrees or promotions on the basis of fake essays worth a place in society?
The issue is more intractable than it seems, because authorities that charge fees for applications, evaluations and training won't give up their dirty practice easily. Serious reform is needed to change the evaluation system, from one of chasing profit to that of providing service.
