It is very unfortunate that China had to face two major tragedies recently. The first one was the coal mine disaster in Shanxi province. Fortunately, 115 miners survived due to their own grit and the determination of the rescue team. The rescue was well planed and executed, so that the miners could be saved even after being trapped underground for nearly eight days. The rescue team deserves all commendations for their untiring efforts.
The second tragedy is the massive earthquake in Qinghai province. Again, there are massive rescue operations. This time rescue teams are much more experienced in handling the aftermath of an earthquake. Government authorities and other social agencies are also supporting rescue efforts and trying to minimize losses despite the tough terrain and climate conditions. I hope that the rescue teams will be able to save many lives in Qinghai. I pray for them and for those who have lost their lives.
