Davos: Although China doesn't want to use it, the word G2 emerges in some of the 220 panels in Davos. Chance to manage the new "globalized" world successfully will be slim without China and the United States work like yin and yang.

Many doubts remain, referring to historical relations between an established nation and a rising one. But Fred Bergsten of the Peterson Institute for International Economics in Washington said G2 may work better as an “informal steering committee” within G20.

Like it or not, the two countries may have to act this way in many global situations in the future to bridge the much talked-about East-West balance.
