Updated: 2008-12-12 07:43 双开(shuang kai) Double Dismissals A term used to describe an official who is dismissed from the Communist Party of China (CPC) and removed from his/her Party post at the same time for serious violation of discipline. It is a severe punishment for officials if they are Party members. According to relevant Party regulations, Party members would receive corresponding punitive treatments in case they violate Party discipline, ranging from receiving a warning or a serious warning, removal from their Party post and reserving their Party membership for a certain period of time, to expulsion from Party membership. Before receiving such punishments, most of the corrupt Party members are often asked to make a clean breast of their offences at a designed time and designated place, called Double Designations.
