Pork job offer may be a hype
(China Daily)
Updated: 2008-12-01 07:37 The recruitment of postgraduates by a pork company may be only a marketing hype, says an article in Xi'an Evening Post. The following is an excerpt: A pork chain store company in Guangzhou recently opened 30 vacancies for university graduates with an annual salary of 80,000 yuan. So far, it has already attracted 1,500 postgraduate students to join in the interview and those who have passed four rounds of interviews will start working in the company next Wednesday, according to media reports. Postgraduate students are usually well-educated while pork company jobs seem to be more suitable for less educated people. It is probably not that these students want to sell pork, but that the pay offered by this company is really attractive. No matter for what purpose, this recruitment ridicules the education system to some degree. Some criticized this recruitment as wasting educational resources. But some also found that the pay promised seems to go against the basic rules of economics. The annual salaries of 2.4 million yuan for the 30 newly recruited staffs can hardly sustain this company as pork price continues to decline and the competition in pork retailing market remains saturated. This company may be making a marketing hype and these college graduates may have been fooled . (China Daily 12/01/2008 page4) |
