A delegation from the Ministry of Agriculture visited Pu’er to check the Pu’er ancient Tea Garden and tea culture from Nov 3 to 5, the Pu’er Daily reported.

Led by Tong Yu’e, head of the international exchange center of the Ministry of Agriculture, the delegation talked with local people while visiting Lancang Jingmai Mountain Tea Garden, Wengji Ancient Village, and Nuogan Dai Ethnicity Ancient Village and.

Wei Yihong, a member of the standing committee of the Party’s Pu’er Committee, briefed the delegates with basic information about the Pu’er ancient Tea Garden. She noted that being listed as a global agriculture cultural relic will significantly promote the economic, social, culture and ecological development of the city.

Pu’er will continue launching policies to develop agriculture products and learn more about how to better protect the Pu’er Tea Garden for the comprehensive, coordinated and sustainable development of the tea culture industry.

The delegates recognized the protection work of Pu’er and noted that the Pu’er ancient tea garden and tea culture is the first tea related item to be listed as a global agriculture culture relic.

The delegates also suggested that Pu’er should create a mechanism that involves different parties and benefits all. They hope the tea garden can be protected while being developed. The delegates are convinced that being listed as a global relic will benefit the local economy of Pu’er.
