The Chinese Bridge Summer Camp opened at Pu'er Ethnic Middle School on Aug 3. Altogether, 42 overseas Chinese students and teachers from Laos attended the camp.

Nie Yunhe, president of the Yunnan Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, attended the camp's opening ceremony and delivered a speech. "We hope that overseas Chinese students can get close to Chinese culture and become the connection between Yunnan province and the world," he said during his speech.

The summer camp is sponsored by the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese and Confucius Institute Headquarters (Han Ban).

Wang Yanqi, an overseas Chinese student from Laos, gave a speech on behalf of all attendees. According to Wang, it was the first time that she had come to Pu'er and she appreciated the opportunity to visit the place where her ancestors lived.
