"Transportation construction is the guarantee of the city's economic and social development," said Wei Xing, Party chief of Pu'er, at the city's 2015 Transportation Infrastructure Promotion Conference on March 27.
The conference aimed to promote the transportation infrastructure construction to lay the foundation of the city's economic development, which has faced difficulties in recent years due to a lapse in suitable roads and transportation networks.
"In the recent years, transportation construction in Pu'er city has made some progress but the transportation condition of the city is still a key factor in restricting the city’s economic development," said Wei Xing.
The economic development of Pu'er city depends heavily on transportation infrastructure investment. Accelerating the city's transportation construction will play a significant role in attracting more investment, according to Wei.
In the conference, Wei raised five requirements toward the future transportation construction. According to Wei; firstly, a detailed transportation development schedule needs to be made; secondly, construction preparation need to be done in a timely manner; thirdly, the government should strengthen financing channels to solve the problem of funding shortages; fourth, the working group should promote the construction of projects currently under construction; and fifth, the government should pay special attention to the responsibility of implementing the work.
