It is not cold in winter and not hot in summer. The rainfall is abundant. The average annual temperature is 18.9 degrees Celsius. The city has a subtropical monsoon climate, and, perched within the range of altitude between 1,000 and 1600 meters, has 16 natural reserves. Owning nearly 1/3 of all species across China, it is an important animal and plant gene pool of the country. The highest concentration of negative oxygen ions in the air of the downtown is above 12500/cm3, 8 to 12 times higher than the "clean air" standard set by the World Health Organization (WHO).
