Residents of Jiangdong Huacheng Residential Community in Kunming celebrated Mother's Day with an outdoor banquet on May 8.

More than 50 households pitched in by bringing over 100 homemade dishes to the community square on the day, where a long table was set up.

A variety of hot and cold dishes were brought, including snacks from Northern provinces, such as dumplings and meat pies, and foreign foods such as sushi and roast turkey.

Even those who lacked culinary skills managed to contribute to the feast, including Mr Qin, who contributed a fruit tray and brought his two kids to the gathering. "My wife is out and I can only do some easy dishes," he said.
