It intends to build a cultural communication platform for China and Myanmar and countries along the Indian Ocean through presenting awards to micro movies and their actors and post-production personnel.

"Lincang has successfully held three micro film festivals and five border trade fairs which have deepened the friendship between Lincang and foreign countries and other domestic regions," said Sun Qingyou, Lincang's municipal Party secretary.

The film festival has received 3,258 productions, almost double the last festival’s number. The number of winners has been confirmed at 275.

The festival's highlight, the "golden Chinese flowering crabapple prize" award gala, is now going through final rehearsal.

The party will invite China's renowned director Li Chun to direct the gala, which will be hosted by famous China Central Television (CCTV) personalities. Many domestic and overseas actors and the micro film festival prize winners will perform.

Other activities including a Lincang tea display and an ethnic group costume exhibition will be added to the festival.
