The Loi Krathong Festival, famous in Thailand, is to be held from November 11 to 17 in Yunnan province.

The activity, held by the tourism bureau of Chiang Mai, Thailand and other institutions in Yunnan, aims to build Xishuangbanna into a famous cultural prefecture and strengthen cultural communication between Thailand and China.

It also intends to promote commerce and trade cooperation between the two countries.

Activities such as a water lamp design competition and a beauty pageant will be held.

The Loi Krathong Festival, which falls on the fifteenth day of the twelfth month of the Thai calendar, is called “the most romantic festival in the world”.

Apart from countless lamps drifting on the water, there will be millions of lanterns flying in the sky: a sight considered one of the seven wonders in Thailand.
