The 9th Urumqi Folk Art Exhibition was held at Urumqi Art Museum on Oct 27, which the citizens can visit for free.

The exhibition includes nearly 500 pieces of six types of exhibits including fabric, embroidery, paper-cut works, sculptures, pottery works and comprehensive folk crafts, which will end on Oct 31.
"I have participated in each Urumqi Folk Art Exhibition. This time I have five pieces of cucurbit relief sculptures. This platform is a good opportunity for us to create folk art and also set up a platform between folk artists and the audience for communication," said Kou Zifen, a folk artist.
On the second floor of Urumqi Art Museum, students from Urumqi Third Primary School and Urumqi No 47 Primary School learnt paper-cutting under the guidance of Bai Liling, a member of Urumqi Folk Literature and Art Association.
"Learning paper-cutting can not only cultivate aesthetic and physical ability, but also inherit the traditional culture of the country," said Bai Liling.
