The Urumqi Economic and Technological Development Zone (Toutunhe district) launched the autumn greening park project on Oct 24.
A total of 77,000 trees and shrubs were sent to street offices, district management committees, troops, schools and enterprises.
In the Jinqiao Road of Toutunhe district, the teachers and students of the Jinqiao Campus of the Xinjiang Arts University, who received the saplings, began planting on the hillsides of the campus.
"This is the new campus of the students. Although we are about to graduate from the campus, it is extremely meaningful to be able to participate in tree planting and greening the campus," said one of the students.
Xue Jiazheng, deputy secretary of the Party committee of Xinjiang Arts University, said that the school's hillside has a total of 200 mu (13.33 hectares) of land and 1,500 teachers and students have participated in the greening project.

After the completion of the tree planting, the pavilion, the stepping path, the landscape belt, etc. will be built here, and the humanity atmosphere will be incorporated, making the hillside a unique landscape on the campus.
Wang Li, a staff member of the bureau of forestry and landscaping of Toutunhe district, said that the spring green park project has completed the planting of 220,000 trees and shrubs.
The trees and shrubs distributed in the autumn greening park project include Chinese catalpa, painted maple, flowering plum and fruit trees.
In the later period, 70 technicians from 12 maintenance units in the district will go to the on-site guidance of each unit to ensure the survival rate of the trees and shrubs.
