The main body of a new school, nine years in the making, in the Bingdi Cooperation Zone in Urumqi Economic and Technological Development Zone (Toutunhe district) completed construction on July 9.

The school is equipped with a canteen, gymnasium and teaching building and is expected to be put into use in September next year.

Zhao Gang, a construction technician from the Xinjiang Construction Project Management Consultancy Co, the builder of the school, said that the project started construction in August 2017 and will be completed by the end of August this year.

The school is expected to offer 24 classes for primary school students and 12 classes for middle school students, serving 1,700 students in total.

The school belongs to Urumqi's city-level "Nursery Project", which plans to build or expand 30 middle schools, primary schools and kindergartens this year in a bid to improve the quality of education.

In addition to the project in Bingdi Cooperation Zone, primary and middle schools in the Urumqi High Speed Railway Section and Kanas Lake Road, as well as Swan Lake Kindergarten, are also under construction.
