VR and AR to support Xinjiang's development

The Xinjiang VR and AR Industry Alliance was set up in the Urumqi Economic and Technological Development Zone (Toutunhe District) in Urumqi, capital of the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region on Aug 29.

The alliance aims to support Xinjiang companies with the application of virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) technologies in the fields of security, urban planning and construction, tourism, medical assistance and transport navigation.

Lyu Yunbo, CEO of Beijing Xloong Technologies Co Ltd, a member of the alliance, introduced that VR and AR technologies have now been applied to several industries to increase working efficiency by a wide margin.

Lyu Yunbo said, "VR and AR technologies can help hospitals connect with experts in other cities to guide important operations and conduct training sessions. These technologies can also improve efficiency in the logistics industry by 30 to 50 percent."

The alliance will focus on the development of VR and AR industries in Xinjiang and regions in Central Asia. It will also help introduce advanced experts and technological teams across the country to Xinjiang.

Wang Qiang, a local resident, experienced AR technologies at the Xinjiang Software Park. He said, "The AR glass is so amazing. I can see a computer desktop in front of me when I wear it and I can use my fingers to click the screen."
