The second phase of Suning's logistics base in the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region is under construction at the Urumqi Economic and Technological Development Zone (Toutunhe District), local media reported on July 27.

Suning, China's largest retail service enterprise, pledged to invest 400 million yuan ($59.5 million) to build Xinjiang's largest regional logistics base.

The logistics base covers a total area of 145,463 square meters. With the first phase of construction completed in 2015, the second phase is expected to be completed in September.

The new Suning logistics base aims to reduce the cost of logistics for suppliers and consumers, providing more efficient, fast and convenient logistics services.

After current construction is completed, the Xinjiang Suning logistics base will be the largest, most advanced logistics base in China's logistics industry.

Liu Yaobin, project manager of the second phase construction, introduced that the second phase will add two new storage warehouses containing seven large reservoir areas and nine distribution areas.

Xu Jun, deputy general manager of Xinjiang Suning Logistics Company, said that local residents can order and receive things within a day. Cities within 1,000 kilometers of Xinjiang can receive next-day delivery, with cities over 1,000 kilometers receiving two-day delivery services.
