The Urumqi Economic and Technological Development Zone (UETD) has announced plans to build 54 new roads and renovate eight existing roads this year to improve the area’s infrastructure.

With a total investment of about 3.6 billion yuan ($520 million), the program is expected to covers four districts.

Chen Gang, secretary of the UETD, urged for improvements to be made to the municipal infrastructure during the third session of the 2nd Conference of the district Party committee.

The UETD should accelerate road construction, along with the construction of the south square of the high-speed rail station and the infrastructure improvements in the Bainiaohu New Area, Chen said.
