Tai'an makes progress in modern agriculture in past 5 years

Tai'an in East China's Shandong province has made great progress in promoting the modern agricultural industry and deepening supply-side structural reform during the past five years.

During the 13th Five-Year Plan period (2016-20), Tai'an has yielded fruitful results in promoting the adjustment of agricultural structure to optimize planting. In 2020, the vegetable planting area in the city is expected to reach 130,000 hectares, with total output of 7.6 million tons.

Tai'an has worked to develop Tanshan tea and organic vegetables, expand their planting areas to meet market demand, which have greatly increased farmer's incomes.

At present, the planting area of organic vegetables has reached 7,066 hectares, with output value of 1.03 billion yuan ($15.72 million). The output of aquatic products from Dongping Lake has hit 56,000 tons with an output value of 1.34 billion yuan.

During the period, Tai'an also promoted the construction of agricultural industrial parks to develop leisure agriculture.

The city is currently home to 36 modern agricultural industrial parks at or above the municipal level including one at the national level, three at the provincial level, and has four provincial-level countryside complexes.

Tai'an is also making efforts to cultivate its agricultural brands. The city currently has two national well-known regional public agricultural product brands, four provincial ones and 11 municipal ones.
