The cities of Jinan and Tai'an in Shandong province are seeking cooperation in promoting the development of the Shandong provincial capital economic circle and in the ecological protection of the Yellow River basin.

A promotional conference focusing on regional cooperation between Jinan, capital of Shandong province, and Tai'an city, was held on Aug 11.

Cui Honggang, Party secretary of Tai'an, Zhang Tao, mayor of Tai'an, Sun Licheng, Party secretary of Jinan, and Sun Shutao, mayor of Jinan, attended the conference.

At the conference, the two sides signed a cooperation agreement. Accordingly, the two cities will cooperate in the fields of infrastructure, industrial integration, the environment, scientific and technological innovation, and public services.

Sun Licheng said that the cities of Jinan and Tai'an enjoy close historical ties and cultural relations and have deep economic exchanges, for the two cities are both situated in the Yellow River basin.

The two cities are expected to join together to promote the development of the Shandong provincial capital economic circle, which will play a key role in the promotion of regional coordinated development in Shandong.

Next, the two cities plan to discuss their cooperation in more detail, such as ecological protection and restoration in Mount Tai, said Sun Licheng.

Cui, Party secretary of Tai'an, said that this is a great opportunity for Tai'an to achieve high-quality development by integrating into the provincial economic circle.

Tai'an will work to bolster cooperation with Jinan in industrial development, ecological protection and social services.

Cooperation between the two cities is expected to accelerate the development of the Shandong provincial capital economic circle.
