Ningyang county in Tai'an, Shandong province will host a cricket-fighting contest this October, local media reported.

The cricket-fighting tradition in Ningyang county has a long history, and the event has been listed as a Shandong intangible culture heritage. The county has held the contest for 30 years.

This is the third time for the county to host the Cricket-Fighting World Cup. This year's contest will take place at the Cricket Museum in Sidian town.

The total prize money for this contest is 1.2 million yuan ($171,475.11). Registration has opened and will end on Aug 31.
