Tai’an started construction on a Mount Tai-themed museum on Feb 27.

The museum was co-designed by the Architectural Design and Research Institute of Tsinghua University and the Beijing Designing Institute, and the whole project is being supervised by Wu Liangyong, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering.

Wu’s design includes both the museum itself and the surrounding natural environment of Mount Tai.

A total of 666 million yuan ($105 million) have been invested into the museum, and it will cover an area of 32,000 square meters. Seven pavilions of varying shapes and sizes will be built inside the museum, which will relate the history and culture of Mount Tai.

The museum will pay homage to the magnificence of Mount Tai’s landscapes and convey the mountain’s profound culture and history to the public.

After its completion, the museum will be open and free to the public and will hopefully boost Tai’an’s tourism industry as well as enhance the city’s reputation.
