The cultural week, jointly organized by the Shandong Provincial Department of Culture and China Cultural Center in Seoul, provided an excellent opportunity for Korean people to gain a better understanding of unique historical cultures in Shandong province.

More than 60 distinguished guests from cultural departments of Shandong and the ROK government as well as related cultural facilities attended the opening ceremony.

On the same day, as part of the cultural week, an exhibition opened featuring stone rubbings of inscriptions from Shandong province's ancient past. It displayed 19 inscription stone rubbings excavated in Shandong, dating back from the Han Dynasty (202 BC–AD 220) to the Wei, Jin, Northern and Southern Dynasties (AD 220-589).

In addition to this show, visitors could feel the charm of traditional Shandong culture in multiple ways through performances, concerts and lectures.

"Shandong has had a close relationship with the ROK since ancient times due to geographical advantages," said Xu Xianghong, head of the Shandong Provincial Department of Culture at the ceremony, adding that this cultural week would definitely enhance the mutual cultural exchanges and promote friendship between the two regions.
