Conference to promote clean judiciary, fight corruption

The Supreme People's Court of China held a conference on Feb 9, promoting a fair judiciary and the need to fight corruption.

Zhou Qiang, chief justice and president of the Supreme People's Court (SPC), addressed the conference, calling for members of the Communist Party of China working in the court system to strictly abide by the Party code of conduct and improve their work style.

Zhou also called for further promotion of judicial fairness and justice for the people ahead of the upcoming 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China.

“The education method should be innovative,” said Zhou, demanding the good use of the China Court Museum, law culture education platform, and judge models.

Zhou added that the construction of court culture should be well based upon China’s traditional culture, advanced socialist culture and socialist core values.

The SPC has shown zero tolerance to corruption. Since the 18th National Congress the CPC in late 2012, China has implemented the eight-point rules on improving work styles and keeping close contact with the people.
