Tran Ba Hieu from Vietnam was awarded a prize from the government of Yushu Tibetan autonomous prefecture in Qinghai province, for his endless efforts in promoting local cultural tourism and protection of the eco-environment over the recent summer holidays.

He joined a voluntary team making a documentary film for China Central Television in 2015. The film recorded a journey seeking people's ancient roots along Lantsang River, a mother river that crosses China's Yunnan, Sichuan and Qinghai provinces.

Though he was fatigued by the long journey and lack of sleep, and suffered altitude stress and weight loss, the young man said he regards the experience as precious and unforgettable.

"It is better to travel 10,000 miles than to read 10,000 books,” Hieu said.
