Qingyuan makes stage pose at Guangdong International Tourism Expo

In the morning of September 2, the 2011 China (Guangdong) International Tourism Industry Expo was inaugurated at the Guangzhou Poly World Trade Exhibition Center. The opening ceremony was attended by Huang Huahua, Guangdong governor, and other officials of Guangdong province and Guangzhou city, foreign consulates in Guangzhou, foreign delegations, and tourism officials from other parts of the country.

Qingyuan, a fine tourism destination, is also a fascinating young city of great vitality. It boasts competitive locations, featuring convenient traffic conditions, attractive landscapes and rich tourism resources. It is reputed as the backyard garden of Hong Kong, Macao and the Pearl River Delta area. In recent years, under great attention and support of the municipal Party committee and municipal government, Qingyuan has leapt forward in the tourism industry. It has successively won a lot of national and international brands and honorary titles, such as Chinese Best Tourism City, Chinese Town of Hot Spring, Chinese Town of Drifting, Chinese Town of Rare Cave, Chinese Livable City, Qingyuan Hot Spring and Drifting – Chinese Scenic Zone Best Loved by Europeans, and Most Charming Resort Town in the Eye of Hong Kong, Macao and Overseas Chinese People. Qingyuan has under its jurisdiction one top Chinese tourism county, one top tourism county of Guangdong characteristics, and five top tourism counties of Guangdong province. So far, the city has 10 national AAAA-level scenic spots, the largest number among all cities in Guangdong province. It has cultivated five name brand tourism lines: family love hot spring, passion drifting, unique karst cave, leisure in landscape and enthusiasm folk customs.

Wang Dekun, deputy mayor of Qingyuan city, led a delegation at the expo. Wang said the delegation was made up of members from the municipal government and tourism administration and was well organized at the expo with an aim to exhibit the unique tourism charms and cultural tourism resources and specialties of Qingyuan to the world. The location of the Qingyuan booth also shows the significance of Qingyuan tourism in the province. Wang said the city would hold a tourism industrial development meeting in the last ten-days of the month, to discuss plans to boost its tourism industry.

Eight counties and districts under the jurisdiction of Qingyuan exhibited their tourism promotion materials and specialties. The Lianzhou Underground River and Guangdong Peak are displayed in special exhibition booths to show their special tourism resources.
