A community volunteer association in the city of Nanyang, Henan province put on a painting and calligraphy exhibition at the city's Gladden Hotel, on Aug 12, for the 70th anniversary of the victory in the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression (1937-1945) and the victory of the World Anti-Fascism War.

Local artists had nearly 100 works on display, praising the bravery of the soldiers in the fight against the enemy and defending China, with some artists conveying their understanding of the war by creating works on-the-spot at the exhibition.

Li Xiangcen, president of the community association, explained that the exhibition is intended to help younger people understand the way our ancestors fought bloody battles to win the victory and to convey a spirit of patriotism for China's prosperity in the 21st century.
