The Han Dynasty ceramic dog relic complex is the largest in China. The king of ceramic dogs, the biggest one, was unearthed from an Eastern Han Dynasty (AD 25–220) tomb in Nanyang in 1987. The terracotta dog, in a prone position, is 49 centimeters long and 41.5 centimeters high.

This work, integrating several skills together, shows the high level of sculptures from the Han Dynasty.
