Zhanye to host Asia-Pacific Rally Championship round

Ganzhou district in Zhanye city in Northwest China's Gansu province will play host to the Chinese round of the 2016 FIA Asia-Pacific Rally Championship on August 5-7, according to announcement in Beijing on May 12.

It is the first time the northwestern city has held an international motorsports event, and if all goes well the local organizers are upbeat on the chance of hosting a World Rally Championship event in the future.

The event, organized by the Federation of Automobile Sports of China, Gansu Sports Bureau and Zhangye municipal people's government, will attract more than 140 cars representing 40 teams from New Zealand, Sri Lanka, India, Australia, France, Britain and China.
