Covering more than 270 square km, the fossilized wood park is one of the main tourist attractions in Gansu province.

Despite the rocks – which were once part of a large forest - being more than 140 million years old, most of the trunks are still in good condition, and still show many original features. There are various sceneries to behold at the park, including the middle, lower and snow mountains, and the Gobi desert, with its many jagged rocks of intriguing formations.
