The commencement ceremony of the first waterborne technology industrial park in China was held in Lanzhou New Area, Northwest China’ s Gansu province, on March 17, Gansu Economic Daily reported.

Covering an area of 80 hectares, the industrial park has had 8 billion yuan ($1.29 billion) invested by Lanzhou Ketian Investment Holding Co Ltd, and the contract was signed last November.

The project consists of five parts: construction of new materials (water-based paint and polyurethane insulation board) with an annual output of 200, 000 tons; water-based synthetic leather, with an annual output of 80 million meters; 200,000 tons of water-based resins (PU and PA resins); one million tons of water absorbent resin and a Ketian-branded hall devoted to healthy living.

When finished, the park will realize an annual turnover of 25.5 billion yuan, which will act as a necessary addition to the waterborne high molecular material market in Northwest China. In addition, the project will contribute to the establishment of the waterborne high molecular material industrial chain in Lanzhou and promote the competitiveness of the northwestern chemical industry in domestic and foreign markets.

As a hi-tech enterprise engaging in the environmental-protection of high molecular materials, Lanzhou Ketian company has begun cooperating with eight top research institutions including the University of Science and Technology of China and Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
