An entrepreneurship and innovation workshop tailored for students from Taiwan who are studying in Fuzhou, provincial capital of Fujian province, concluded in neighboring city Pingtan on March 19.

Part of a series of measures Fuzhou has rolled out to encourage young people from Taiwan to seek employment or start businesses on the mainland, the workshop attracted a total of 78 Taiwan students from universities including Fuzhou University, Fujian Medical University, Fujian Normal University and Fujian University of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Chen Yiting, president of Fuzhou Taiwan Compatriots Investment Companies Association, said at the closing ceremony that the two-day activity had helped more Taiwan youth get to know the many preferential policies they can take advantage of in Fuzhou, and had strengthened the students' confidence in working and living in the city in the future.

The coastal city, one of the closest mainland metropolises to Taiwan, offers generous subsidies and start-up funding for entrepreneurs who cross the Taiwan Strait to work in Fujian.
