The Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone (PCPZ), Fujian province, hosted a business match-making event for cross-Straits talents, projects and investors on June 19.

The event, part of the fifth Common Homeland Forum, attracted more than 300 top minds from China and abroad, specializing in biology, medicine, electronic information, e-commerce, equipment and manufacturing, environmental protection and other fields.

A total of 16 projects, involving opto-electronics, bio-medicine, mobile Internet, big data and others, were on show, receiving comments and tips from experts.

The aim of the event is to promote exchanges and cooperation between cross-Straits talents and investors, to achieve win-win results, and help Pingtan reach its goal of becoming a Common Homeland for people on both sides of the Taiwan Straits, said Lin Jiangling, deputy director of PCPZ's administrative committee.

Liu Lianghui, deputy director of Fujian Overseas Chinese Affairs Office, encouraged more overseas Chinese to work or start businesses in Pingtan, as the zone has preferential policies and huge opportunities for startups.

GaoWutu, an academician from the UK's Royal College of Physicians, also called on the attendees to work together to promote Pingtan's development and enhance cross-Straits cooperation.
