The Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone, Fujian province, recently announced its plans to improve infrastructure construction and strengthen the establishment of a beautiful countryside, ptnet.cn reported on May 20.

The plan is in line with the provincial government's idea to create a better and more comfortable living environment.

The Pingtan government intended to invest 6 billion yuan ($912 million) in infrastructure construction, including the renovation of city roads and underground pipelines as well as the establishment of parking lots and sewage and garbage disposal facilities.

About 200 public bicycles will be available to locals, encouraging them to live a green and low-carbon life.

The government also plans to allocate 200 million yuan for this year's beautiful countryside project, featuring environment renovation of 10 villages located near highways, railways and tourist sites.
