Around 600 workers from the Chinese mainland and Taiwan will take part in a cycling race in the Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone, Fujian province on April 24, announced the Worker across the Taiwan Straits Communication Center on April 7.

This will be the third year of the race, echoing President Xi Jinping's call for increasing cross-Straits cultural communication.

The main venue of the event remains to be the same, Haiyu Plaza. The participants will be divided into four groups – men's junior mountain, men's senior mountain, women's mountain, and road.

Winners of each group will get bonuses, and the maximum will reach 10,000 yuan ($1,545), according to the organizers.

The event is of great significance in enhancing cross-Straits communications, added the organizers.
