Taiwan's open university seeks educational cooperation from Pingtan

Chen Sung-Po, president of Taiwan's National Open University (NOU) visited Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone (PCPZ), Fujian province, on April 1 to seek educational cooperation.

Zhou Qingsong, deputy director of PCPZ's administrative committee welcomed the president and exchanged ideas with him about NOU's participation in establishing a continuing education base in Pingtan.

Zhou also introduced the zone's latest social as well as educational development and expected more educational support from NOU.

Chen Sung-Po expressed his intention to cooperate with Pingtan in continuing education and to contribute to the zone's development.

After the meeting, the president also toured planning museum, an educational park and the Aoqian High-Speed Passenger Terminal to gain a better understanding of the development and overall planning of the zone.

Established in 1986, the NOU is a full-service, distance learning university fully accredited by the Taiwan government. It has an annual enrollment of 35,000 students.
