A Party-government meeting between Fuzhou city and the Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone was convened in Fuzhou, Jan 22 to discuss matters regarding the free trade zone construction (FTZ).

Pingtan has achieved remarkable progress over the past several years, improving its infrastructure, landing a number of major industrial projects and implementing reforms in cooperation with Taiwan, which will offer a great experience for the development of Fuzhou, said Yang Yue, Fuzhou’s Party Secretary.

The two can expand their cooperation to more areas during the construction of the FTZ in order to enhance regional development and pursue a common prosperity, he added.

In the next stage, Fuzhou and Pingtan should jointly study policies and programs pertaining to the FTZ’s construction and cement their strengths in different fields. They will increase information and interest sharing and deepen cooperation in infrastructure construction, industrial development, and cross-Straits communication, said Yang.

Li Dejin, director of the PCPZ’s administrative committee, thanked Fuzhou for its support for Pingtan’s development, noting that Pingtan’s economic growth could not be realized without Fuzhou. Pingtan and Fuzhou will adhere to the conception of urban integration and help each other in the FTZ’s construction, he said.
